Traveling with a baby

It is possible to travel with a baby. However, it is important to note that our seats are not equipped with the necessary restraints for child safety seats, the restrooms are not equipped with dressing tables and you cannot stroll down the aisle to calm or comfort the child. 

The stroller and baby seat are not considered baggage. Therefore, the parent is allowed two extra pieces of baggage and a carry-on case. 

Power Outlet for Laptops

Most of the busses at Autobus Maheux are equipped with power outlets for laptops. 

Smoking

Smoking is strictly prohibited on busses. 

Alcohol

Alcohol consumption is prohibited by law (c.s.r. Art 443) on all buses.

Right to refuse Boarding

Autobus Maheux reserves the right to refuse access to anyone who cannot take care of themselves or with a behavior that is or can be disturbing to the other passengers. Exception: The latter does not apply to sick or handicapped passengers who are accompanied. 

Carrier Obligations

The carrier's obligation is limited to transporting passengers and their baggage. Autobus Maheux is not responsible for delays caused by accidents, breakdowns, poor road conditions, detours, traffic jams and any other conditions beyond our control. The departure, arrival and correspondence times can be modified at any time without prior notification and are not guaranteed.

Privilege for Handicapped people

All handicapped persons who are holders of the Quebec Accompaniment Card in public buses given by the Association of Bus Owners of Quebec can bring someone with them at no extra charge. 

The person accompanying the handicapped person must provide for the disabled person's needs such as carrying their luggage and getting them from gate to gate. 

Animals

Only guide dogs for passengers with visual impairment or service dogs for those with reduced mobility are permitted. You are not allowed to carry an animal, whether in a cage or not, on the buses or in the luggage compartments. At all times, the dog must wear its harness which indicates that they are working and the owner must have the Card proving that the dog comes from a Certified School for training guide dogs or service dogs. 

At no time will the dog be permitted to sit in a seat. 

Bicycle

A bicycle is not considered a piece of baggage. The transportation of the bicycle is subject to the following conditions: $5 fee plus the costs of the shipping material. 

All bicycles must be placed in a box or a bag suitable for the bicycle. The handlebars and the pedals must be wrapped in such a way that they will not damage the other baggage in the compartment. We always try our best to put the bicycle aboard the bus in which the passenger is travelling. However, it is possible that due to a lack of space that the bicycle will be put on another bus. Boxes are available at the Val d'Or and Rouyn Noranda terminals at the cost of $6.50.

For Bicycles shipped without a passenger the Expidibus Courier rates apply. 

Passenger Baggage

a) Baggage

Each passenger is allowed two pieces of baggage as well as 1 (one) carry-on which must fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat. All baggage must be clearly identified.

b) Additional Baggage

Each passenger is allowed two additional bags for the price of $5 per bag for a one way ticket and $10 for a return ticket. These fees are payable at the time of the ticket purchase.

All additional baggage will be sent using the rates determined by Expedibus Courier.

c) Limitations

No baggage should weigh more than 34 kg (75 pounds) or be larger than 60 cm x 60 cm x 90 cm (2 ft x 2 ft x 3 ft) or 0.30 m². Baggage may be insured for $100 total per passenger ticket. Any pieces of baggage with a declared value greater than $100 must be shipped through Expedibus. 

Ticket Refund

Tickets sold by Autobus Maheux are refundable unless otherwise indicated. You must send your request along with the unused portion of your ticket to the following address: Autobus Maheux ltee, 156 Route 393, P.O. Box 277, La Sarre QC, J9Z 2X5.

  • Tickets are refundable within a twelve months of emission date.
  • All refunds must be for a minimal value of 25.00$.
  • A 25% administrative fee is also applicable.
  • The unused portion of a round trip ticket is redeemable with a penalty of 25% plus the 20% discount given at buying time.

 

Prepaid tickets

It is possible to buy a ticket for someone else. To do so, you have to purchase it at a terminal or any other participating company serving the city where you live. The sale will be confirmed by fax at the bus terminal of origin. Please note that a non-refundable $7.50 fee ($15 outside of Autobus Maheux network) will be charged in addition to the ticket price.

Regular rate

This is the regular rate for anyone who does not meet the criteria for our discounted rates. 

Round trip

Additional discounts, up to 20%, are offered when you purchase round trip tickets; compared to our regular rate. 

Seniors

People 60 years and older can benefit by a 15% discount from the regular rate on the Autobus Maheux network. To take advantage of these rebates, you must show proof of age when purchasing the ticket or getting on the bus. 

Students

13 to 17 years of age: people in this age group are assumed to be students and can benefit from a 15% discount. To obtain the discount you must show proof of age only. 

18 years and older: A full-time student can benefit from a 15% discount on regular rate by showing a Photo I.D. student card. 

This proof is to be shown when purchasing the ticket and when embarking on the bus. 

Children

0 to 4 years of age: must be accompanied by a person of at least 14 years of age. The child will travel for free on the Autobus Maheux Network if he or she does not use a seat. If the child requires a seat they will be charged the rate applied for the 5 to 12 year olds.

5 to 7 years old: Children 5, 6 and 7 years old will receive a 40% discount off the regular ticket rate and must be accompanied by a person at least 14 years old. A proof of age will be required when purchasing the ticket or getting on the bus.

8 to 12 years old: Children 8 to 12 years old inclusively will receive a 40% discount off the regular ticket rate. They can travel alone on the condition that they must have the Unaccompanied Child Form filled out and signed by a guardian. 

Conditions attached to the Unaccompanied Child Form

A child between the ages of 8 and 12 years old inclusively can travel alone if the following conditions are met in their entirety:

  • A round trip ticket cannot be sold to a child traveling alone.
  • Unaccompanied minors must have an Unaccompanied Child Form completed for them. An Unaccompanied Child Form must be filled in for each direction of travel.
  • The destination terminal/agency must be open upon arrival.
  • A child cannot travel alone if there are transfers or correspondences planned in the itinerary.

Transportation of Children

  • Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by someone who is at least 14 years old.
  • Children aged between 8 and 12 years old inclusively must have an Unaccompanied Child Form completely filled out and signed.
  • Children 13 years of age can travel alone but cannot be considered accompaniment for younger children.

Expiration of a ticket

The validity of Autobus Maheux's tickets is for an unlimited periode.
